We are looking for a highly organized individual to join the parts department of Southern California’s ultimate restoration shop. Computer literacy mandatory. A working knowledge of the parts network for vintage cars with an emphasis on Ferrari, and vintage racing cars is required. We are looking for a creative individual that thrives on challenging projects. We repair very old, one-off cars. This is not a production job, we rarely make more than 12 of anything. We never have the benefit of anything like a blue print, so basic drafting or CAD skills would be very helpful. If we are lucky, we have an old part to work from or a grainy old photograph. Therefore, the ability to work from a concept to the completed part is essential. Internal broaching, external splines and single point threading are common requirements. On a regular basis we also find it necessary to produce a wide variety of specialized tooling. A basic understanding of the metallurgy and heat-treating of 4130 alloy steel, titanium, stainless steel, magnesium and 6000 series aluminum is essential.The applicant must also be familiar with all aspects of high performance automotive engine related machining operations.
